Capacity Building Grant Program
Program Description
The NW 79th Street CRA Capacity Building Grant Program provides funding to help small businesses strengthen operations, improve competitiveness, and support long-term business growth within the CRA corridor. The program focuses on business development investments that enhance efficiency, customer experience, technology, branding, and commercial visibility.
Businesses such as liquor stores, smoke shops, adult entertainment establishments, national chains, and predatory lending services are not eligible for funding. Projects that improve corridor beautification, storefront visibility, and commercial activation may receive priority consideration.
Funding Structure
- Grant funding of up to $10,000 per business
- No matching contribution required
- Funding is provided on a reimbursement basis after CRA approval and execution of the grant agreement
- All funded work and purchases must comply with Miami-Dade County permitting and licensing requirements
Eligible Improvements INCLUDE
Eligible business improvement expenses may include:
- Point-of-sale (POS) systems, computers, and technology upgrades
- Website development, e-commerce platforms, and digital marketing tools
- Security systems, cameras, alarms, and cybersecurity improvements
- Accounting, legal, bookkeeping, and professional consulting services
- Business licenses, certifications, and commercial insurance expenses
- Workforce development and employee training programs
- Storefront enhancements, exterior signage, and customer access improvements
Eligibility and Conditions
Eligible applicants must:
- Operate a for-profit business within the NW 79th Street CRA boundaries
- Be properly licensed, insured, and in good standing with Miami-Dade County
- Complete funded improvements within 180 days of grant approval
- Demonstrate business stability and continued occupancy after project completion
- Maintain all funded improvements for a minimum of five years
